aff. (Latin, abbreviation) – affinis, akin to, similar to, belonging to; sometimes used in a similar way as cf. to indicate that a taxon identification is uncertain or in the way of agg. to indicate that a specimen belongs to a larger, often difficult, taxonomic group.
