apical nasse (noun, ascus term, pl. apical nasses; French, literally meaning: "apical basket"; synonyms: nassacre; nasse axiale; deprecated term) – complex finger-like protrusions of ascoplasm into the tholus forming a "basket-like" differentiation of the inner part of the tholus below the anneau apicale; typically found in the archaeascus; described from observations in the light microscope and possibly the result of artefacts caused by degeneration of the tholus in herbarium material; not identical with the axial mass. This is: part of ascus.
