biatorine (adjective) – referring to apothecia that have only a pale, not carbonized proper margin and always lack a thalline margin. Biatorine apothecia are usually pale brown, flesh-coloured or even colourless and usually have soft, waxy and not hardened consistency. The disk often becomes convex and it is not always clearly distinguished from the surrounding margin. The thallus is never part of the apothecium itself and usually distinctly different in texture and anatomy.
