Caverna - LIAS Glossary

caverna (noun, pl. cavernae; synonym: cavernula) – a cavity; (1) thallus surface: a cavity or hollow area, particularly in the lower cortex of the foliose lichen genus Cavernularia; (2) the central cavity inside a pycnidium or perithecium. This is: part of thallus surface, part of thallus interior.
