Glossary Formatting Rules

This is a test version of the LIAS Glossary. Many definitions presented here are still in need of revision! Criticism as well as collaboration is welcome!
Synonyms that are glossary entries themselves should be given only as singular, unless the plural form is unusual. Example: simplify "synonym: sl. branching pattern, pl. branching patterns" to "synonym: branching pattern".

Formatting tip: Sometimes it is desirable to abbreviate the first term in a pair of terms, but keep both terms as links. The Wiki allows to distinguish between the display text and the link text if a vertical bar ("pipe") is used inside the square brackets. Example: [primary|primary thallus] and a [secondary thallus].
