This is a test version of the LIAS Glossary. Many definitions presented here are still in need of revision! Criticism as well as collaboration is welcome!
septum thickening (noun, ascospore term, spore morphology term, pl. septum thickenings; synonym: septal thickening) – a swelling of the endospore along a spore septum, usually more distinctly pronounced along the side of the spore septum and thinning towards the centre of the spore, where the septum is penetrated by a central pore. Because septum thickenings are most often asymmetrical they are responsible for characteristic shapes of the cell lumina. This is: part of spore.
