This is a test version of the LIAS Glossary. Many definitions presented here are still in need of revision! Criticism as well as collaboration is welcome!
teleomorph (noun, pl. teleomorphs) – the sexual, generative morphotype of a fungus, also referred as the "perfect" or meiosporic state, i. e., a morphotype that forms spores only by meiosis. The concept that sexually reproducing fungi are "perfect" because they are genetically more diverse than their asexual counterparts is based on assumptions (see the discussion under anamorph). Related terms: holomorph, ana-holomorphic, anamorph.
